Baby showers are weird. A bunch of ladies buy gifts for a pregnant lady. Then they gather around the pregnant lady and scrutinize her as she opens each of their gifts. And there is a lot of silence. A lot. Of awkward. Silence. Any way, it’s weird.
The theme was Winnie the Pooh. Lots of pastels.
The cake was a yellow half sheet cake split in half and folded on top of its self with a chocolate filling and vanilla frosting.
The tile in the center is fondant . I hand painted Pooh and Piglet with gel food colors thinned with clear vanilla. It’s a great way to add details to fondant and make it totally unique. I’ve hand painted a lot of cakes; take my advice: your first few attempts will look bad/horrible. Don’t give up. It’s way fun.
The flowers were fondant as well. We cut them out with flower shaped cutters and hand shaped them with fondant tools that you can find at most craft stores. (I say “we” because I was helped by some dear friends who cut and shaped most of the flowers. Good job team.)
Baby showers are weird, but the cake was a big hit. It tasted good, it cut well, and it fit the theme. Thank you, A. A. Milne.
PS. After a helpful suggestion of a reader, I added “Winnie the” to the title to clarify what the cake is all about. It’s really all about food…..mostly.
Good choice on the name switch. 🙂
I’m rather appreciative of your team, myself.
Lol.
And you did a wonderful job, I saw the Winnie
the Pooh and the candies-they were so pretty.
